Background

Sonen Capital is a specialized asset management firm headquartered in San Francisco, CA. We invest on behalf of family offices, high net worth individuals, foundations and endowments for both exceptional financial returns as well as social and environmental sustainability. We are looking for a Head of Business Development with deep sales experience with a strong sales track record. This is an excellent opportunity to become a part of a modern and innovative investment management firm.

Job Description

This individual will develop and implement a sales plan which includes identifiable milestones and objectives related to establishing and expanding relationships with potential clients. Establishing this sales plan will entail attaining agreed-upon targets and maximizing the achievement of new business relationships and market penetration.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implement the business development plan, identifying opportunities and developing relationships with prospects and consultants
  • Manage pipeline, lead new business meetings and provide reporting to internal partners on a regular basis
  • Prospect, lead new business meetings, deliver presentations and close sales
  • Develop and manage relationships with manager research teams, and select investment consultants
  • Effectively communicate the firm’s investment style, product and performance to prospective clients
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of key competition and the competitive environment
  • Ensure that product and sales materials are always updated and focused for the applicable presentation
  • Work with team members to ensure quality and timeliness with respect to RFP an RFI responses
  • Travel as necessary to meet with prospects.

Qualifications

  • Extensive sales experience – reaching and exceeding sales targets
  • In depth knowledge of sophisticated marketing techniques
  • Previous experience of proven business development
  • Strong knowledge of the investment management industry
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
  • Out-going, proactive and confident personality
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Self-starter and able to excel independently

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 7 or more years of sales or related experience
  • Advanced education is desirable
