INVESTMENT ANALYST

 

Sonen Capital is an asset management firm based in San Francisco that focuses exclusively on impact

investing. We work with family offices, high net worth individuals, foundations, endowments, and other institutional organizations to provide both exceptional financial returns as well as social and environmental sustainability.

 

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our investment team. This is a unique opportunity for the right professional to join an industry leading organization in a highly entrepreneurial environment, working with some of the most forward-looking clients.

 

Responsibilities

 

The Investment Analyst’s primary responsibility is to help develop and implement impact investment strategies through the public markets including fixed income, equities, and alternatives. This role will require extensive portfolio management and asset allocation work in addition to public markets research (which includes alternatives). The Investment Analyst will work closely with the portfolio lead and the larger investment team to drive manager research and selection as well as support the management of customized managed accounts.

 

  • Be involved in all aspects of the investment process, including, among other things:
  • Daily qualitative and quantitative analysis required on investment managers and public markets.
  • Develop and maintain asset class universes populations in public markets and alternatives.
  • Support Sonen managed investment funds in public markets and alternatives.
  • Evaluate overall portfolio strategy, asset allocation and risk management as well as develop an understanding of underlying assets and portfolio exposures.
  • Generate monthly, quarterly and annual reports on products and clients’ portfolios, including presentations to internal investment committee, external partners, and directly with clients and prospects.
  • Assist and draft underwritings for investments.
  • Participate in manager calls and provide quick turnaround on notes and memoranda.
  • Research key macroeconomic themes and trends and complete other special projects as required.
  • Work closely with Sonen’s Head of Impact to conduct impact evaluations of funds and develop impact frameworks for strategies.
  • Support client service team to manage all aspects of client relationships.
  • Develop, enhance and maintain fund portfolio models
  • Work closely with marketing and business development team to prepare marketing materials including pitchbooks, DDQs, PPMs, due diligence binders and participate in marketing meetings.

Preferred Qualifications

The successful candidate will be an intellectually curious, self-motivated individual who is analytical, detail- oriented and has excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Four-year degree required in finance, economics or a related field.
  • MBA or CFA a plus but is not required.
  • At least 2 years of institutional investment experience a plus but not required.
  • Knowledge and experience of investing across public markets, including alternative strategies.
  • Flexible and able to work within a small team and company environment.
  • Strong note taking skills.
  • Need to have enthusiasm for the pace of public markets.
  • Must be highly proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary Range: $75,000-$90,000
  • 401(k), Health, Vision, and Dental Insurance
